The Fandom Snowflake Challenge: Day 10
Jan. 10th, 2014 08:23 amWellll now. Let me see.
1. Coffee shop AU fics of any fandom I'm even vaguely familiar with. I. LOVE. Coffee shop AUs. I know some people hate them, but they are my FAVORITE THING. They are so cozy and happy and domestic and I just love coffee shops anyway, in real life, so yes. Coffee shop AUs. The fluffier the better. If there's smut in there, too, I might explode from happy. Plus, I'll podfic it (I've a goal of recording at least five coffee shop AU podfics this year) if you are interested!
2. Podfic requests. I know, this seems odd, but seriously, I'm trying to record fifty podfics this year, I need some help choosing, and there's nothing I love more than making other people happy. So please please please request podfic of any fic you wrote, or that you like, or that you were thinking of podficcing but won't have time or don't feel comfortable with, or for any reason at all. Really. Details of what I will record are in this post. If you're worried I'm overwhelmed with requests, DON'T BE. I literally have zero specific requests as of this moment.
3. More blanket permission statements. As a podficcer, it makes my life SO much easier when people have, in their AO3 profiles or on their journal sticky post or somewhere else easily visible, a statement about transformative works. Even if you don't want podfic made of your work, it saves me a lot of time if I know that up-front, rather than having to message you about it and then wait for a response. I will always, always give credit and link back to your original work on AO3 (which, for the record, messages you so you're informed that it happened). It would make me SO happy if more people had permission statements on their profiles.

Date: 2014-01-10 03:01 pm (UTC)If you're interested in creating podfic(s) for any of my fics then I give you Carte blanche.
AO3
I just realized while I have a blanket permission statement for my art on lj that I don't have one written for my fics. I'll remedy that as soon as possible and post one on my AO3 profile.

Date: 2014-01-10 03:07 pm (UTC)Also, could you, maybe record this podfic, Intoxicated? It's a Star Trek TOS fic where Spock's parents meet and one of them gets a little intoxicated and starts asking ~questions. This person is okay with podfics! :)

Date: 2014-01-10 03:25 pm (UTC)I'm reading that fic right now, and I would love to podfic it! THANK YOU so much for requesting it! (I was actually just thinking I should record something as a gift for you, anyway, so I'll do this one sometime in the next few days!)

Date: 2014-01-10 03:49 pm (UTC)My transformative works policy can be found here.
Podfic requests: I would love to see more Lewis podfics, if that's a fandom you could see yourself getting interested in. Otherwise, I'd adore having any of the amazing gifts I've received on AO3 (many of which are Harry Potter fandom) podficced (although, honestly, I don't know whether any of the authors have blanket permission). I can't listen to my own podfics, so having another version of The Pensieve Project out there would also be welcomed. =)

Date: 2014-01-10 03:56 pm (UTC)#2: I have two short stories that I'd love to have pod-ficced, one OMC LotR and on HG/SS Harry Potter:

#3: I've had a permission statement for years. It's not completely blanket because I'm a bit of a control freak about translations and podfics (outside of AO3 that is, because AO3 is so perfect about related works).

Date: 2014-01-10 04:38 pm (UTC)I'm not sure that you are interested in the same fandoms as me (they're all pretty old fandoms), but if you do happen to decide you'd like to podfic any of my stuff you have my permission. I've only written for Hey Arnold!, Mulan and Quantum Leap, all posted on AO3.

Date: 2014-01-10 04:54 pm (UTC)But what I'm really, really wanting is two particular SGA podfics, both by Speranza. The first is War Bride: http://www.trickster.org/speranza/cesper/Warbride.html and the second is Like a Long, Slow Nervous Breakdown: http://www.trickster.org/speranza/cesper/Breakdown.html
If you have any interest in either of these, I'd be ecstatic!

Oh, I should mention that the two speranza stories are also slash, in case that's not your thing.

Date: 2014-01-10 08:13 pm (UTC)Your post reminded me that I never posted a transformative works policy, so I fixed that, and put a link in my profile. There's also a similar statement in my AO3 profile.
If you like any of my fics, do feel free to make podfics.

Date: 2014-01-11 12:49 am (UTC)And one of my requests for this day of the challenge is for someone to podfic one of my works. I've got Harry Potter, CSI (the Las Vegas one only), The Sentinel and some other odds and ends at AO3, and I'd be thrilled if you wanted to read any of them.
As for blanket permissions, I put one up in response to a request in last year's FSC, so it's already there. All three!

Date: 2014-01-11 01:22 am (UTC)COFFEE SHOP AU LOVERS UNITE \o/ :D (I'm ROTTEN at reccs, just terrible, I'm so sorry :()... I don't know why I've never had a go at writing one, actually. Hrm.

Date: 2014-01-11 03:48 pm (UTC)You should totally write one. You know you want to!

I've written some bandom and I'm a blanket permission author. Absolutely no pressure. But a lot of it is silly, some of it is sexy. Some of it involves werewolves or college. One involves a coffee shop. And even if I've recorded a thing, a lot of what I've recorded is from bp authors and I believe repods are love. So, yes.
Here's a link to my stuff on AO3
(Also, is that icon you? Because if so, AMAZING chest piece from what I can see. I maybe ogled a little. )

Date: 2014-01-11 05:42 am (UTC)Do you perhaps have some resources on podficcing? I've been considering it myself for a long time, but I have no idea of editing and where to find sound-clips I could use for free. I don't want to deliver poor quality.
no subject
Date: 2014-01-11 03:51 pm (UTC)Audacity is what I use to edit, it's free and pretty easy to use. If you use mac I've heard good things about Garage Band. Not sure about sound clips, actually, as I haven't used them myself, but I'll let you know if I come across anything!

Date: 2014-01-11 06:51 am (UTC)I see that we've got some fandom overlap but the one coffeeshop AU I've written isn't it. (It's from Disney's Enchanted.) Still, I've got a blanket permission statement up and you're welcome to podfic it if you'd like! I've never been podficced before.

Date: 2014-01-11 05:13 pm (UTC)And if any of my fics seem like something you'd be interested in podficcing, I would be honored--we do have some fandom overlap, it looks like (Merlin, Supernatural, Marvel/Avengers, and I've also written one Stargate SG-1 fic but that one probably falls under your heavy angst/mourning would-rather-not). My AO3 page is here, if you'd like to look through and see if there's anything you might want to do.

Podfic requests
Date: 2014-01-11 10:31 pm (UTC)1) Get It Right, Get It Tight - twentysomething is a bp author
2) Words get tangled up in good intentions - mermaid is a 'pro-podfic, but please ask first' author

Re: Podfic requests
Date: 2014-01-12 05:46 pm (UTC)Oooh, I'd love it if you'd do You By My Side, by twentysomething, or Dropped Stitch: Love in the Time of Hockey by tourdefierce (not a BP author, though, you'd have to ask).
Re: Podfic requests
Date: 2014-01-16 04:28 pm (UTC)I'm adding your suggestions to my podfics list :D This month is the worst for podfccing, but hopefully February will be filled with ALL THE PODFIC \o/

Date: 2014-02-02 09:35 am (UTC)I did see that you prefer not to podfic heavy angst/sad ending, which a fair number of my fics are, though by no means all!
Here's a link to my AO3, or I could probably pick out a few specific fics if that's better. (I'm just excited at the thought of having any covered.)
